I’m watching movies
For as long as I can remember I’ve been obsessed with record keeping and logging (ask me about my spreadsheet of every single class I’ve ever taken and every single teacher I’ve had from kindergarten to master’s degree!). Alongside an appreciation of film I developed taking film studies courses in high school all the way through university, I’m now attempting to keep a running diary of every movie I’ve ever seen.
Below are some of my favourite movies of all time.
Arrival
Directed By: Denis Villeneuve
A linguist works with the military to communicate with alien lifeforms after twelve mysterious spacecraft appear around the world.
Bicycle Thieves
Directed By: Vittorio De Sica
In depressed post-WWII Italy, a working-class man’s bicycle is stolen, endangering his efforts to find work. He and his son set out to find it.

Jermaine's Review:
Barry the GOAT.
The opening scene where the Rivers family comes together made me so proud.
I know this was Mr Baldwin’s book before it was a movie but, I’ve gone on at length about how much I love stories that reflect reality so well and have the strength to not choose the happy path and instead to display reality. I think it’s easier to do in books than in movies, but the movie builds so much toward Sharon going to Puerto Rico to attempt to get Victoria to change her testimony. Victoria telling her the police forced her to falsely identify Fonny as the one who did it, and everything going right, just until the moment it isn’t: that’s real life. And in spite of it all, there are so many other beautiful romantic parts of this movie.
Long Shot
Directed By: Jonathan Levine
A journalist reunites with his childhood crush, now one of the most influential women in the world. As she prepares to make a run for the Presidency, she hires Fred as her speechwriter and sparks fly.

Jermaine's Review:
That penultimate scene, the romance. The way Bergman’s eyes twinkle as she turns to look at Cary Grant. Oof.
Past Lives

I’m taking photos
My never ending desire to document is what got a camera in my hand the first few times, and the first time I took a photo I was proud of has been the feeling that’s kept me taking photos 11 years later. Photography was my medium of choice in my studio art minor at U of T and continuing forward as a designer, I think it’s incredibly important that designers maintain creative outlets.
Below are some of my favourite photos I’ve taken.
I’m launching rocket cars at soccer balls
As soon as I can flip reset, I’m joining NRG Esports. I swear.
I’m hanging out with my favourite snicklefritz
My favourite dog in the world: Aspen!
